Questions
Who is it for?
Every tuba player, from beginner to professional: students just starting out, high school and college players, players preparing for auditions, amateurs, and pros. Lessons are sorted into Advanced and Beginner. Today’s lessons and masterclasses are in Advanced, and Beginner lessons are on the way. The practice tools work for players at every level.
Can students under 13 use it?
Yes. At sign-up we ask players to confirm they’re 13 or older. Students under 13 can use the practice tracker, tools, and lessons in their plan, but they don’t see the community board. Parents can read more in the privacy policy.
Does it work on iPhone and iPad?
Both, with one account. On iPad, Apple Pencil writes straight onto your music. On iPhone, tap Markup to draw with your finger.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to sign in and stream lessons. The metronome, tuner, drones, recorder, and My Music all work without a signal.
Where are my recordings and PDFs stored?
Your PDFs in My Music and your markings are saved to your private account, so they sync between your iPhone and iPad. Recordings stay on your device, so share any you want to keep before deleting the app. The one exception is a recording a Pro member submits for feedback, which is uploaded so our teachers can listen.
How does the free trial work?
New Basic subscribers get the first 2 weeks free through the App Store. After that it’s $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year unless you cancel in Settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
What is a founding member?
Anyone who joins Participant or Pro before lessons open on November 15. Founding members pay about 20% less for their first months, paid once on our website. Your months start November 15, so you don’t lose any time. See founding prices.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. More on the support page.
I teach. How do studios work?
Students join your studio with a six-character code, and the studio gets its own leaderboard and challenges. Email support@thetotaltubist.com to set one up.
